Windows 95/98/NT/2000 standalone solution of BioID person authentication system.

System requirements

- Processor: at least Pentium 233 (recommended: Pentium II)  
- RAM: min. 64 MB (recommended: 128 MB)    
- Disc space (Program):  required 25MB
- Disc space (Database): min. 12MB  (recommended: 45MB) and min. 3MB (recommended 15MB) per user
- USB Camera (only Win95/98 and 2000) or Frame-grabber and camera, soundcard or complete 
  video conferencing system with Microsoft DirectShow Interface:
  compatibility with Microsoft Netmeeting recommended   
- CCD camera: PAL or NTSC monochrome or color, (format 4:3; 25 frames) 
  Microphone: min. 50 - 15.000 Hz

Important note for Windows95/98 users:

If BioID Login is installed and activated, and if you work under difficult lighting or noise conditions, or if the camera is not working or connected correctly BioID might not recognize you. In such a case you cannot login to the system.
What can be done?

Please follow these instructions:

1.) As a standard function Windows 95/98 has a boot switch: During the boot process you press the F8 key, thus booting the PC in the so called "Protected Mode". You now have access to all local resources, however you have no network connection.

2.) Now you can remove BioID Login from your system: Click on Start in the task bar, choose Settings/Control Panel, and open "Add/Remove Programs". You select "BioID Login" in the program list and press "Add/Remove..."
BioID Login is now remove from your system.

3.) After restarting the computer you access your computer via the regular Windows login.

Remark: In case you return to normal lighting or noise conditions, or re-install your camera you can use BioID SOHO again for the login by installing BioID Login again:
Start the BioID SOHO Wizard, go to the "Test Recognition" window, click "Test BioID", and after successful test click "Install BioID Login".


Important note for Windows NT/2000 users:

What can be done?

Please follow these instructions:

1.) After Windows NT/2000 has booted you are requested to press "Control-Alt-Del" in order to call the BioID Login procedure. Here you press "Control-Alt-X" instead of "Control-Alt-Del". This invokes a backdoor login routine and you are asked to enter the backdoor password.
With BioID SOHO the default backdoor password is "BioIDLogin".
Remark: This password cannot be altered in BioID SOHO.

2.) Now you login to your PC with the regular Windows NT/2000 login entering your user name and password. In the future you either use this backdoor option until you have the camera re-installed, or you remove BioID Login from your system.
To do so you click on Start in the task bar, choose Settings/Control Panel, and open "Add/Remove Programs".
You select "BioID Login" in the program list and press "Add/Remove..."
BioID Login is now remove from your system.

3.) After restarting the computer you access your PC via the regular Windows NT/2000 login.

Remark: In case you return to normal lighting or noise conditions, or re-install your camera you can use BioID SOHO again for the login by installing BioID Login again:
Start the BioID SOHO wizard, go to the "Test Recognition" window, click "Test BioID", and after successful test click "Install BioID Login".
