Is this headset compatible with the PS3® and Xbox 360®?
Unfortunately not. This headset isn’t compatible with gaming consoles such as the PS3® and Xbox 360®. The integrated sound card requires special drivers which are only available for Windows®.

The headset doesn’t seem to be working, audio playback is poor – when I speak into the microphone, people can’t understand what I’m saying or playback and microphone recording won’t work at the same time. What do I need to do?

Try another USB port. The headset requires a stable supply of power from the USB port at a constant current of 500mA. First make sure that the headset isn’t connected to a USB hub, a USB extension cable or the front port on the PC – it should be connected to one of the ports on the motherboard.
If that doesn’t resolve your problem, go to the Windows® Device Manager, click ‘Universal Serial Bus controllers’ and check the properties of the USB Root Hubs by right-clicking the root hub and then clicking ‘Properties’. Under ‘Power’ you can check how many USB devices are connected to a root hub. The headset should be connected to its own root hub which shouldn’t be shared with other devices. In addition, click the root hub’s ‘Power Management’ tab (also under ‘Properties’) and make sure the option ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’ is unchecked.

The headset microphone is very quiet – how can I increase the recording level?
To do this, enable ‘Microphone Boost’ or ‘Microphone Boost Control’. In the majority of Windows® systems, you’ll find this function in the Control Panel under the ‘Sound’ option – ‘Recording’; in some cases it may even be located in a submenu. That said, this function might not be available on some systems depending on your sound card.

Why do I get stereo sound but either no surround sound or a poor surround-sound effect?
5.1 or 7.1 surround sound must be enabled in the headset’s driver menu. To do this, first check that the driver has been installed correctly – use the latest possible driver version which you can find on the SPEEDLINK website. Following that, go to the main menu and click the button with the hammer symbol and then check ‘7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter’. You can also optimise the position of the virtual speakers in the right-hand window.
